Chinzanso

The garden is located on a small hill facing the Kanda River and was called “Tsubakiyama” (Camellia Mountain) because it was a scenic spot where camellia trees grew wild.

Located on the grounds of Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo, the garden is open to the public.

The garden, which skillfully utilizes the undulations of the plateau and valley, is an atmospheric place where visitors can appreciate camellias, cherry blossoms, and other plants, as well as historical sites.

The three-story pagoda in the garden was moved from Chikurinji Temple in Hiroshima around 1420 (Muromachi period) and is registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan.

In the Edo period (1603-1867), this villa was the residence of the Kuroda family of the Kururi domain, and Aritomo Yamagata used it as his villa, calling it Chinzanso.
