Nippori, Kitasenju Travel Guides

Nippori and Kitasenju are home to tourist attractions such as Arakawa Amusement Park, Entsuji Temple, and Minuma-dai Water Park; tourist events such as the Rooster Fair, Daruma Memorial Service, and Arakawa Ward Industrial Exhibition; and local delicacies such as sukiyaki, motsunabe, and soba noodles.

Nippori is located in Arakawa-ku, Tokyo, and is home to Nippori Station and Nishi-Nippori Station. Nippori Station is served by the Keisei Line, Joban Line, and Nippori-Toneri Liner, making it a conveniently accessible area with a rich downtown atmosphere.

Kitasenju refers to the area around Kitasenju Station in Adachi-ku. The name "Kitasenju" does not actually exist. The area flourished as an inn town in the Edo period (1603-1867). Restaurants, sweets stores, and department stores line the streets in front of Kitasenju Station, making it a popular place to live.

Nippori offers a variety of restaurants, from reasonably priced izakaya (Japanese-style pubs) where you can enjoy drinks with stewed or grilled liver, to restaurants perfect for when you want to splurge a little.

In Kitasenju, shish-kebabs and yakitori (grilled chicken) are popular. There are also many cafes that also serve as galleries, where you can spend a relaxing time while savoring a cup of coffee. Sweets stores selling lovely cakes and macaroons are also not to be missed.

The quaint Yanaka Ginza shopping street stretches to the west of Nippori Station. Various events are held throughout the year, such as the Yanaka Shichifukujin Tournament at New Year's and the Yanaka Ginza Festival in summer. Nearby, there is a staircase called "Yuyake Dandan," which is known as a sunset spot.

On the southeast side, there is a textile wholesale district with more than 60 textile specialty stores, making it a center for Japanese fashion. At the north exit of Nippori Station is the Asakura Sculpture Museum, a renovated studio of sculptor Fumio Asakura, where his collections and books are on display.

The area surrounding Kitasenju Station has a relaxed atmosphere with department stores, fashionable cafes and restaurants, libraries, and university campuses. The Arakawa river bank, familiar from the drama series "3 Years B Class Kinpachi Sensei," is also nearby.

On the banks of the Arakawa River, there are soccer and baseball fields and a cycling course. The Arakawa River hosts the Adachi Fireworks Festival every July, which attracts many visitors. This is a fireworks display that has been held since the Meiji Era and is loved by local residents and fireworks fans.
